2014 The fourth time

More acts, more stages, more variety: For its fourth edition, New Fall Festival expanded in all areas. Five houses of different size, history and atmosphere opened their doors for 10.000 visitors, two of them were part of the festival for the first time: Tanzhaus NRW and Johanneskirche. Musically seen, the festival was as varied as never before. At Tonhalle, London Grammar and Mogwai presented two very different drafts of epic pop. Sébastien Tellier invited to his Brazilian party at Tanzhaus NRW, and at the same location Mulatu Astatke proved to be the father of Ethio jazz. At Johanneskirche SOHN combined singer/songwriter tunes with electro, while Erlend Øye took the dancing crowd at Robert-Schumann-Saal to Italy’s 60s. In addition to the international line-up, German artists like Maeckes or Judith Holofernes showed a wide range of intelligent German pop. On the opening night, Cologne-based songwriter Maxim performed an exclusive show together with the Cello orchestra of Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf.

The new established New International Talents showcase introduced young foreign artists to the Düsseldorf audience and brought the festival days to a close in a very calm atmosphere at the round cupola room of Hotel Nikko.
